April 10, 2012August 16, 2011One of our superstarsJust come back from spending the weekend at Coffs Harbour where we went to finally meet our client Roger (aka Ginga Dude) in the flesh. He didn’t let me down – his energy and presence were phenomenal, just like I knew it would be. Fabulous to meet him after knowing him via his hair tests over the last four years. Roger, and my long time brilliant horse chiropractor/trainer mate Graeme Boyd, are here from NZ to have another good crack at some of the big ones over the Melbourne Cup Carnival. It’s the great ” one man and his horse story!” against the big boys with their megabucks and trillion dollar horses. Rog had a tilt last year, thrilling us all winning the Group 2 David Jones and then running 3rd in the MacKinnon Stakes behind So You Think. Now he’s 8 and he’s back, putting in the miles with Graeme aboard on the beach and in the surf at Coffs Harbour. Watch this space! September 16, 2010WHEAT INTOLERANCEDoes your horse Tie – up, as in Equine Polysaccharide Myopathy, EPSM. FYI With each and every horse we have hair tested and treated over the last twenty odd years, who have presented with tying up problems, the one common factor they have all shared is their intolerance to wheat. That’s right folks, not oats, not corn but wheat. OR Does your horse have: Behavioural problems, poor performance, failure to thrive, nervousness, grumpy, cranky or mad…. Any of the above problems may be caused by the wheat you are feeding your horse. Australia is a huge wheat growing country, consequently wheat or wheat by products tend to be present in almost all premix feeds on the market. If your horse is suffering from any of the above, try taking ALL wheat ( this includes bran, millrun, pollard and maltodextrin) out of the diet completely for three to six weeks. If your horse is wheat intolerant you can expect to see positive changes, sometimes within days, definitely within four weeks, dependent on the individual. NB: Horses who are wheat intolerant will be negatively affected by even a tiny amount. Any PhD students doing a thesis on EPSM or Equine nutrition, please feel free to contact us.
